Chitika eMiniMalls Tips
If you’re one of the many bloggers who have just signed up for Chitika eMiniMalls after reading my review you might like to check out Quick Online Tips who have just posted tips on running Chitika eMiniMalls & Google Adsense on Same Webpage.
There they give code that helps you to set your eMiniMalls up in a way that is non contextual (and is therefore allowable with Adsense) but in a way that rotates a variety of ads which will help you to get a bit of variety in your ads which will help combat ad blindness.
I’ve been using this rotating ads code over the past day or two and have noticed an increase in earnings already.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that the bloggers that are reporting the best successes with eMiniMalls are the ones that are targeting products on their blogs. I know I mentioned this in the review - but bloggers with a focus upon gadgets, clothes, shoes etc seem to be doing well from them.

Great pointer, Darren. I have no idea if Chitika offers any ads remotely related to my blog topic, but I think I’ll have to check them out just so I won’t feel like I’m missing out on all the fun! hehe

I’m using Firefox and every eMiniMall ad is featuring a broken image. I emptied my cache and restarted my browser but they are still broken. Did anyone else encounter this? I don’t want to sign up for something that will show broken ad images to my site visitors.

Hmm, maybe you’re AdBlock’ing a phrase that the image uses, like shopping?

And actually I’m impressed you got this article up so quick ;-)
I was just tinkering with Chitika after seeing it in your first post, and indeed I quickly came to these same questions (Adsense and Chitika, controlling context, etc).
I notice Blogger doesn’t allow script tags in a post, but maybe other blog engines do, in which case you could embed a script tag in each post to control what Chitika would advertise on a per-post basis.
It’s good that the Adsense thing is answered - I was about to ask them about it.
PS It’s a tricky name; I keep misthinking it as Chikita, which makes me think Chokito. *sigh* oh well.

I notice that you have a banner to chitiktitiktia (or how ever you spell it), are you getting affilitate refferals?

Well, that’s it. Your review got me to think that I should try the mini-malls, but getting them to not clash with AdSense is an even better thing (and I probably wouldn’t have figured by myself how to do that). I guess I really need to give them a try now.

Awesome! Thanks for the info, Darren. I’ve signed up too, I’m excited to see if I generate any revenue. I thought it was called ‘Chikita’ for about half an hour (like the banana?), but then my brain figured out that it’s CHI-TEE-KAH. Got it. ;)
I’d like to see something other than a white background, that would be nice. Maybe I’ll submit that suggestion to them.
I’d be interested to know how they came up with the name too, if anybody knows!

Doh, I remember seeing somewhere, where they got the name - it meant something in the language of some Indian tribe or another, I think. Can’t remember what though.

Anybody know how their OTHER formats are performing? ie, the contextual ads that look like AdSense?
I might thry them on my blog for a few days instead of AdSense just to see the difference…

Dont even go there.
The best thing is to use Adsense AND eMiniMalls (in Adsense compatible mode). When it comes to vanilla text ads, nothing compares to Adsense (not even YPN).

I just signed with Chitika haven’t been accepted yet and not sure if I will be because of the monthly 10,000 visitors (don’t think I get that many) but went on a rampage after adsense suspended me for I don’t know what (they sent a list of a wide variety of things and I can’t see one that I’m guilty of). Anyway, I found this blog looking for information on the program and it’s been an insightful visit…
